Kantung mata Kerana Alergi

Kantung Mata Kerana Menangis

Kantung Mata Kerana Dehidrasi

The fact is, you can't separate your wellness from your emotions. Every feeling you have affects some part of your body. And stress can wreak havoc even if you’re doing everything else “right.”

What is “Stress”?

The classic definition of stress is “any real or imagined threat, and your body’s response to it.” Celebrations and tragedies alike can cause a stress response in your body.

Some stress is unavoidable. Some mild forms of stress can even be helpful in some situations. But a stressor becomes a problem when:

  • Your response to it is negative.

  • Your feelings and emotions are inappropriate for the circumstances.

  • Your response lasts an excessively long time.

  • You’re feeling continuously overwhelmed, overpowered or overworked.

It’s important to realize that all your feelings create physiological changes. Your skin, heart rate, digestion, joints, muscle energy levels, the hair on your head, and countless cells and systems you don't even know about change with every emotion.

Marc notes that Americans, in general, tend to eat under a state of stress and anxiety.

While under stress, your heart rate goes up, your blood pressure rises, and blood is shunted away from your midsection, going to your arms, legs, and head for quick thinking, fighting, or fleeing.

All of these changes are referred to as the physiological stress response.

Under those circumstances, your digestion completely shuts down. So a major problem with eating while your body is under the stress response is that you could be eating the healthiest food in the world, yet you won’t be able to fully digest and assimilate that food, and your body will not be able to burn calories effectively.

How the Stress Response Affects Your Digestion and Health

The stress response causes a number of detrimental events in your body, including:

  • Decreased nutrient absorption

  • Decreased oxygenation to your gut

  • As much as four times less blood flow to your digestive system, which leads to decreased metabolism

  • Decreased enzymatic output in your gut – as much as 20,000-fold!

Many nutrients are also excreted during stress, particularly:

  • Water-soluble vitamins

  • Macrominerals

  • Microminerals

  • Calcium (calcium excretion can increase as much as 60 to 75 mg within an hour of a stressful event)

As if that’s not enough, your cholesterol and triglycerides also go up, while gut flora populations decrease. You’re also more likely to experience increased sensitivity to food and gastroesophageal reflux, or heartburn.

But perhaps most importantly, when your body is under the stress response, your cortisol and insulin levels rise.

These two hormones tend to track each other, and when your cortisol is consistently elevated under a chronic low-level stress response, you’ll likely notice that you have difficulty losing weight or building muscle.

Additionally, if your cortisol is chronically elevated, you’ll tend to gain weight around your midsection. We’ve known for some time that body fat, and especially visceral fat (the fat that gathers around your internal organs, around your midsection) is a major contributing factor to developing diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

The bottom line?

When you eat under stress, your body is in the opposite state of where you need to be in order to digest, assimilate nutrients, and burn calories.

There’s no doubt that finding ways to relieve your everyday stress is an important, if not essential, aspect of optimizing your health. All the organics in the world can’t help you if your body can’t assimilate the nutrients you put into it.

Stress is a serious factor in the illness of nearly all of the patients seen at my clinic. Because in addition to everything mentioned above, stress also plays a major role in your immune system, and can impact your:
You cannot eliminate stress entirely, but you can work to provide your body with tools to compensate for the bioelectrical short-circuiting that can cause serious disruption in many of your body's important systems. By using techniques such as meridian tapping, you can reprogram your body’s reactions to the unavoidable stressors of everyday life.
But there are many other strategies you can employ to help you deal with stress and unwind each day, including:
I also highly recommend you read the book Feelings Buried Alive Never Die. If you’re experiencing any type of physical or emotional challenge in any aspect of your life, this book does a great job of explaining feelings: what they are, how you experience them, how they are integral to your physical health, and, most importantly, how to work with and overcome those that are pulling you down.

STRATEGIES TO ADD YEARS TO YOUR LIFE

Strategies for Adding Years to Your Life—and Life to Your Years

A key factor in living a long, healthy life is optimizing your insulin, which increasing numbers of scientific studies are proving. But other factors are important as well. The following are my top anti-aging recommendations.

  • Proper Food Choices. For a complete guide about which foods to eat and which to avoid, see my comprehensivenutrition plan. Generally speaking, you should focus your diet on whole, ideally organic, unprocessed foods that come from healthy, sustainable and preferably local sources. For the highest nutritional benefit, eat a good portion of your food raw. This type of diet will naturally optimize your insulin signaling.

Most people (although there are clearly individual differences) should strive for a diet high in healthful fats (as high as 50-70 percent of the calories you eat), moderate amounts of high quality protein, and abundant vegetables. Non-vegetable carbohydrates should be a fairly minimal part of your diet. Sugar, and fructose in particular, can act as a toxin when consumed in excess, driving multiple disease processes in your body including insulin resistance, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and systemic inflammation—any of which can shorten your life.

  • Comprehensive Exercise Program, Including High-Intensity Exercise. Even if you're eating the best diet in the world, you still need to exercise—and exercise effectively—if you wish to optimize your health. You should include core-strengthening exercises, strength training, and the right kind of stretching, as well as high-intensity "burst" type activities. Consider combining this with intermittent fasting to supercharge your metabolism.

  • Reduce Your Stress. Your emotional state plays a role in nearly every physical disease, from heart disease to depression to cancer, and yet it's the factor most often neglected. Stress has a direct impact on inflammation, which underlies many of the chronic diseases that kill people prematurely every day. Meditation, prayer, energy psychology tools such as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and yoga are all viable options that can help you relieve stress and clear out hidden emotional blocks.

  • Optimize Your Vitamin D. The important factor when it comes to vitamin D is your serum level, which should ideally be between 50-70 ng/ml year-round, and the only way to determine this is with a blood test. Sun exposure or a safe tanning bed is the preferred method, but a vitamin D3 supplement can be used when necessary. Most adults need about 8,000 IU's of vitamin D per day to achieve optimal serum levels.

If you take supplemental vitamin D, you also need to make sure you're getting enough vitamin K2, as discussed above. Fermented vegetables can be a great source of vitamin K2 if you ferment your own using the proper starter culture. Gouda and Edam cheese are also good sources.

  • Avoid as Many Chemicals, Toxins, and Pollutants as Possible. This includes tossing out your toxic household cleaners, soaps, personal hygiene products, air fresheners, bug sprays, pesticides and insecticides, just to name a few, and replacing them with non-toxic alternatives. Avoid prescription drugs in favor of more natural approaches, whenever possible.

HABITS OF WOMEN WHO LOVE THEIR AGE

They rock out to vintage Madonna records.

Note, we said records—not albums, not tracks, not MP3s. In one study at Harvard University, people who were placed in an environment that resembled their youth—with movies, music and memorabilia from the past—experienced marked improvements in their memory, vision, happiness level and overall health.

They're always looking for the hardest way to do things.

Here's how this works: Studies show that trying new and challenging activities (like aqua spinning, learning how to make kimchi, editing 15-second videos on your phone) force us to think in a different way, increase our brain volume, protect against cognitive decline—and can help make us a more open-minded person. And those who become more open to new experiences are more likely to be satisfied with their lives, found another recent study about personality.

They swap cola for cherry juice.

None of us would mistake soda for a health drink, but it's also been linked to gout (as well as knee pain and arthritis). Eating cherries, which contain powerful antioxidants with pain-fighting properties called anthocyanins—and which also taste delicious—can lower your risk of a gout attack. In one Boston University study, participants who ate 10 to 12 cherries over a two-day period had a 35 percent lower risk of flare-ups.

They don't think that misplacing their keys means anything (well, anything more than that they can't drive until they find them).

Have you heard that as you become older, you also become forgetful? That's what some middle-aged participants in a study by the USC Davis School of Gerontology were told just before they were asked to take a memory and reasoning test. As a result, they did much worse than other test-takers of the same age who weren't told these things. Researchers concluded that attributing every absentminded moment to getting older can actually worsen memory problems.

They refuse to go through dry spells.

Several studies have highlighted the fact that women who enjoy sex (and by "enjoy," we mean full-body fireworks, tickertape parade, meteor shower) tend to live longer. But we all know that's hard to achieve every single time, especially when you're in a long-term relationship. Fortunately for everyone involved, researchers have found that even maintenance sex can have anti-aging benefits: At least one study of more than 3,500 people showed that regularly getting busy in bed can help women look four to seven years younger.

They follow the same eating advice they give to kindergartners.

But they have grown-up reasons for finishing their broccoli: New research shows that a compound in the vegetable slows down the destruction of cartilage in joints associated with arthritis. (The "little trees" also contain sulfur compounds that can filter out carcinogens that promote tumor growth.)

They never miss a workout.

First, the not-so-great news: In a recent study of 1,789 women age 50 and older, only a bit more than 12 percent said they were satisfied with their body size (but as one of the researchers pointed out, given the enormous pressure on women to resist the natural physical processes of aging, the fact that any middle-aged women are happy with their body size and shape could be considered surprising). And now, the more inspiring news: One of the main things the satisfied women had in common was that they exercised more per week than dissatisfied women. So even if consistent sweat sessions won't make you look exactly like you did at 25, they will help you feel better about your body—and feel better, in general.

They buy into the yoga hype.

We've all heard the converts who believe yoga is a miracle cure for everything—including aging. So far, scientists haven't figured out a way to test that precise claim, but when a team of psychologists observed more than 200 female yoga practitioners over the age of 45, they found that the frequent and long-term practice of yoga was correlated with higher scores of physical and mental wellness (those who practiced yoga more often seemed to be better at "transcending the ordinary," while those who had been doing it the longest tended to have the most positive attitudes). Other studies have shown that yoga can reduce the risk of age-related scourges like achy jointsback pain and arthritis. (But because of new evidence that yoga may be especially taxing on the hips, it's important to pay attention to your body, back off when you feel something's not right and avoid instructors who encourage you to push through the pain.)

They made peace with getting older while they were still young(ish).

Something to keep in mind as you plan your 39th birthday celebration (again): Researchers found that people under age 50 who looked on the bright side of aging (e.g., it brings wisdom, perspective, more time with family) were less likely to develop cardiovascular disease later in life—and had lower mortality rates—than those who faced each birthday with dread.

AGE DEFYING FOODS

By

You already know that eating the right foods helps keep you healthy. Here's more good news: A healthy diet can also make you look and feel young. It may even slow the aging process.

Eating foods such as fruit, vegetables, fish, nuts, and whole grains protects against many chronic conditions that could limit your life, including diabetes and heart disease. These foods help keep your blood vessels in top shape. That’s important for your heart -- and for every organ of your body. Certain foods can protect vision and hearing. Eating healthy foods may even help preserve memory and protect against Alzheimer's.

"Even your skin will stay younger looking if you eat right," says Allison T. Pontius, MD, an expert in anti-aging and regenerative medicine at Williams' Center of Excellence in Latham, N.Y

Help Yourself to These Age-Defying Foods

Colorful fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants in colorful vegetables and fruits, such as leafy greens, deep red tomatoes, blueberries, and carrots, help stop unstable molecules from damaging healthy cells. You cannot feel it when some cells are damaged or dying, but you can see it in the signs of aging, such as wrinkles. So at each meal, fill about half your plate with fruits and vegetables. Your goal is five to nine servings a day.

  • Three particular antioxidants -- vitamin C, zinc, and beta-carotene -- help protect your vision from macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in adults 65 and older. If you already have macular degeneration, eating foods with these nutrients may slow its progress. Dark green leafy vegetables -- spinach, kale, collard, and mustard greens -- help the most. But you also help your eyes when you eat bright-colored produce, including corn, peppers, oranges, and cantaloupe.
  • A powerful antioxidant in grapes and red wine, called resveratrol, helps reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, and premature aging.
  • Antioxidants like vitamin C can even keep your skin younger-looking. A 2010 study showed that eating lots of yellow and green vegetables was linked to fewer wrinkles.

Whole grains. Eating whole grains rich in fiber -- oats, quinoa, barley, wheat, and brown rice -- lowers your chance of developing type 2 diabetes. A healthy diet that contains whole grains also keeps blood vessels in peak condition. Your goal is three servings of whole grains a day.

Fish. Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil offer many anti-aging benefits. They protect your heart, reduce your risk of stroke, and may even lower your risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Help yourself to two servings a week of fatty fish such as salmon, lake trout, or tuna. If you typically get tuna from a can, choose albacore packed in water for the most omega-3s. If you don't eat fish, ask your doctor if you should take fish oil supplements.

Dairy. The calcium and fortified vitamin D in dairy foods are crucial to strong bones. They help prevent osteoporosis and keep you active into your golden years. Include 3 cups of low-fat milk, yogurt, or other dairy products a day to ensure strong bones for life. By choosing low-fat instead of regular dairy, you’ll help keep your cholesterol levels in check, making you less likely to get heart disease.

Nuts. The fatty acids in nuts are among the healthiest you can find. If you avoid nuts because you think they're high in fat, think again. In fact, one study showed that snacking on nuts reduced the risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol by about 20%. You only need to eat 1/4 of an ounce a day to get the benefits -- that’s about 4 almonds.

Beans and lentils. These foods give you loads of plant-based protein, so they’re an age-protecting alternative to red meat with saturated fat, which is linked to heart disease and diabetes. Beans and lentils are inexpensive and easy to add to soups, casseroles, and side dishes.

Aging Foods to Avoid

For the best anti-aging diet, it’s important to limit foods that can harm your body. It’s easy if you follow these three guidelines.

  • Go easy on high-fat meat, high-fat dairy, and bakery treats. The saturated fat found in these foods can clog your arteries, which can lead to heart problems.
  • Limit sugar as much as possible. Eating too much sugar can send your blood sugar levels on a roller-coaster ride of ups and downs. Over time, excess calories may make you insulin resistant, which can lead to type 2 diabetes. Diabetes damages your blood vessels and often leads to heart disease. "The less sugar you eat, the healthier you'll be," Pontius says.
  • Spare the salt. Eating too much salt, a form of sodium, can raise your blood pressure. Over time, high blood pressure can damage many parts of your body, including your kidneys, your eyes, and your brain. Limit sodium to 2,400 milligrams -- about 1 teaspoon of table salt -- throughout your entire day. If you have high blood pressure, your doctor may suggest you eat even less, about 1,500 mg a day. Check labels for the sodium content in canned, frozen, and boxed foods. Packaged foods typically pack in a lot of salt -- you may be eating more than you realize.

Give Your Body the Fuel It Needs

Can you get the benefits of nutrients through supplements, instead of thinking so much about what you eat? Not really, says dietitian Manuel Villacorta, author of Eating Free.

You need calories from food to have the energy to do everything you want to do. For steady energy, Villacorta suggests you eat three modest-sized meals a day, and keep healthy snacks handy for between meals. Drink plenty of water. Becoming dehydrated can rob you of energy and cause your skin to dry out.

Also, research shows that nutrients in whole foods interact in complex ways to protect your body. Isolating a single nutrient in a supplement rarely offers the exact same benefit.

“It's smarter -- and easier -- to plan your diet around foods, not nutrients," Villacorta says. "What you eat makes a huge difference in how you age and how you feel."
